Our service is delivered by fully trained clinicians who use near patient testing (finger prick test) to deliver Internationalised Normalised Ratio (INR) results during an appointment. Clinic appointments last an average of 10 minutes, providing sufficient time for patients to receive their new dose and discuss any aspects of their treatment. Clinics are held at the surgery, other NHS premises and home visits may be provided.
We use near patient testing (finger-prick blood test) to determine the INR result, as recommended by the NPSA (National Patient Safety Agency). This allows a high level of convenience for patients who receive test results within minutes. A specialist clinician who will counsel them on their dosage rather than wait for results to come back from a hospital laboratory sees them.
Even if you are not a patient of ours and are a Wigan registered patient you can still have your INR tested in our surgery. Please contact our recption for more deatils or ring the Intrahealth Anti-Coagulation Team on 0800 681 6518 lines are open 0830-1730hrs Monday to Friday.
